Successful Garr Reunion
-
The reunion was a success - because so many great people came!
Thank you for coming, it was wonderful meeting everyone. Some people
brought genealogy, so...
I remember this house being green, without some of the pillars in the yard, etc. I also remember walking home from summer school one year, I was going into second or third grade, sitting out on the curb of this home, sticking my feet in the gutter water and wishing I lived here. It was such a pretty house, and then I wouldn't have to walk the remaining two or three blocks to my house in the heat! (Such a long way.) Was I surprised when Grandma and Grandpa bought the home some time later. It was almost as good as it being my house! I couldn't believe it.
I also remember finding a "fort" dug into the sand out behind this house. Every day I would go dig it out again for me and my friends only to return and have it filled in again. A week or so later Grandpa mentioned how some kids kept digging a fort in the sand behind the house and he filled it in because he was worried they would become buried in it - Oh, Grandpa, that was me!
